Frequently Asked Questions

Dyslexic boy readingHow much does the Individual Dyslexia Program (Programme) cost?

Fees for the Program (Programme) are listed here.

How much does continued support cost for following years?

Details are here.

Are there any other costs?

There are no other costs. Your fees include the Dyslexia Parents Course and advice/support for a year.

What kind of support will I receive?

Details of the support you will receive are here.

Teacher AdviserWill my Teacher Adviser change from one year to another?

We have a long-term team of teachers who are committed to helping dyslexic children. You will have the same teacher for the whole year of your Program, barring unforseen circumstances, and the same teacher will stay with you in subsequent years if you continue on the Program.

I have already done the Dyslexia Certificate Course. Can I just purchase a year's support?

Mother and daughterYes. If you have already completed and passed the Direct Learning Dyslexia Parents Course or the Direct Learning Dyslexia Certificate Course, you can sign up for a year's support from a Teacher Adviser here without having to include the course in your Program. We will need to check our records to verify your qualification, so please email us immediately after you enrol, giving us the date you completed the course and your Student Number.

I have not done either the Dyslexia Certificate Course or the Dyslexia Parents Course. Can I just purchase a year's advice and support without taking the Dyslexia Parents Course?

I am afraid not. You must complete the Dyslexia Parents Course as part of the Program. However, once you have completed it, you may purchase additional years' advice and support.

Does it matter if I make spelling errors in my emails to my Teacher Adviser?

Not at all. We always ignore spelling errors in emails from parents. Dyslexia often runs in families and we expect parents to make errors when writing to us. We just look for the meaning, and how we can help.

Mother on the phoneCan I contact my Teacher Adviser by telephone?

I am afraid not. We have students and customers around the world in all time zones, and we do not have the resources to operate a 24-hour telephone response service. However, emails are answered with 2-4 days after we have fully considered the advice and/or techniques which will help you.

My child is under 7 (or over 18). Can I still join the Program?

It depends on your child's individual difficulties and school progress. Please contact Direct Learning first with a description of your child's abilities and difficulties. Our email address is at the side of this page.

UK flagUSA flagI am British and I notice that you spell the word 'programme' in the American version - 'program'. Does the course have American spellings?

In general, we avoid spellings which differ from American to UK English and we try to choose a word which is spelt the same, as our Program is taken by parents worldwide. In cases where this is not possible, we generally put both versions in the text, e.g. math/maths.
